The Slumber Party Massacre (1982) puts a distinctive spin on the slasher formula as a group of high school friends gather for a weekend slumber party, unaware that an escaped killer armed with a power drill is nearby. What begins as a seemingly ordinary night quickly descends into a darkly humorous and blood-soaked nightmare.

Directed by Amy Holden Jones and written by Rita Mae Brown, the original film developed a cult following for its combination of slasher conventions, dark humor, and female perspective, becoming an enduring favorite of 1980s horror.

Slumber Party Massacre II (1987) takes the series in a stranger and more surreal direction, following a group of friends whose weekend getaway becomes increasingly disturbed by nightmarish visions and the appearance of the bizarre Driller Killer, a rock-and-roll murderer wielding an unforgettable drill-equipped guitar.

Written and directed by Deborah Brock, the sequel pushes the series beyond traditional slasher territory with a distinctive combination of horror, black comedy, surreal imagery, and musical elements.
