"HIM" Movie Review

I’ll admit, I went into Him with a very negative disposition. The trailer, the premise, the theme, I could tell what this movie was going to be and sadly, I was exactly right. It was ridiculously confusing but not in a Mission Impossible confusing way. There was a story and the dialogue was easy enough to follow. I didn’t find myself trying to figure out who was a good guy, bad guy, double-crosser, etc. I was more confused about the WHY?!?!
I’ve no doubt that the writer, director, cast, and die-hard followers of football will claim that the move was, “a metaphor for sports in general and our commitment to perfection” but they’ll be full of crap. It was a mess. The movie relied on nothing more than perfectly sculpted bodies, some football practice scenes, and shock value.
There was nothing redeeming here. The last 20 minutes went into some weird dream sequence that appeared to wrap up all that Cameron (Tyriq Withers) had become but it was nonsensical violent whimsy for nothing more than violent whimsy.
By far, the worst movie I’ve seen so far this year.
